Fair warning: This is sad.
I was at a barbeque a few weeks back and sat talking with an older gentleman when he began telling me a story of regrets.
At 69, he says he should already be retired.
But here he is.
Still working.
And he's deeply concerned that he is not even half ready for the sweet release of retirement.
He told me a story of an old business associate who once invited him to invest in real estate.
With tears in his eyes, he told me he laughed right in the guy's face.
It felt too risky at the time.
But now...
His business associate retired 15 years ago and is a real estate mogul/millionaire.
If I had... If I would have just...
If... If... If...
I couldn't help but feel for the guy.
That was an opportunity that he'll never get another chance at.
How could he not be kicking himself for passing it up?
There is opportunity all around us.
Don't look back on life and ask "what if?"
Life is too short for all of that regret.
